Adjustment

“I’m worried my pet won’t be comfortable or be able to sleep while we’re away.”

We understand! A new environment can take some getting used to, especially for pets who are accustomed to sleeping in the comfort of their own homes. At Law’s Country Kennel, we work hard to create a safe, comfortable, and predictable environment where every guest has the opportunity to settle in, relax, and rest.

Comfort begins with consistency. From the moment your pet arrives, we introduce them to our established daily routines while maintaining their familiar feeding schedule and medication instructions. This combination of structure and familiarity helps provide a sense of security and encourages a smoother adjustment to their temporary home.

Our spacious, climate-controlled kennel accommodations provide plenty of room to stretch out and relax. We also encourage families to bring familiar items from home, such as bedding or a favorite toy. These comforting reminders of home can make a meaningful difference, particularly during the first few nights.

An active day deserves a peaceful night!

While Law’s is a lively, engaging environment during much of the day, with opportunities for Yard Play, Nature Walks, and personal interaction with our team, we also recognize that downtime is just as important.

Our daily schedule includes quieter periods between office hours, giving pets opportunities to unwind, nap, and recharge. As evening approaches, activity settles down and our guests prepare for a restful night.

Before our team leaves for the evening, soft classical music is left playing and nightlights remain on, helping create a calm, familiar atmosphere throughout the kennel.

Every pet adjusts at their own pace, but through compassionate care, consistent routines, comfortable accommodations, and a healthy balance of activity and rest, we do everything we can to help them feel secure and at ease.

Our goal is simple: to make Law’s Country Kennel feel like a comfortable home away from home, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is in caring hands.

“I’m worried my pet won’t eat while we’re away.”

We understand! Changes in surroundings and routines can sometimes affect a pet’s appetite, especially during the first few days of boarding. At Law’s Country Kennel, we’ve cared for thousands of pets over the years, and one thing we’ve learned is that every pet has their own eating habits, preferences, and pace of adjustment.

Some dogs eagerly finish every meal, while others prefer to nibble throughout the day. Some may even try to bury their food beneath their bedding! It’s also not unusual for a pet to eat less initially while becoming familiar with a new environment.

Patience, consistency, and individual attention make a difference.

During this adjustment period, our team pays close attention to your pet’s eating habits and food consumption. We follow their feeding instructions, offer opportunities to eat in a comfortable environment, and monitor how well they’re adjusting. When appropriate, food may remain available between meals to encourage pets who prefer to eat at their own pace.

We also enjoy offering treats by hand, whether they’re favorites brought from home or treats we provide. These small interactions can help build trust, encourage positive associations, and make your pet feel more comfortable with our team.

We highly recommend bringing your pet’s regular food from home. Maintaining a familiar diet can help reduce unnecessary digestive upset and is especially important for pets with sensitive stomachs, dietary restrictions, or special nutritional needs.

Our standard feeding times are approximately 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., but we understand that not every pet follows the same schedule. If your pet normally eats around lunchtime, requires smaller meals throughout the day, or has specific feeding instructions, simply let us know. We’ll do our best to maintain the routine they’re accustomed to.

While a temporary change in appetite can be part of adjusting to boarding, our team takes eating habits seriously. Significant or prolonged changes in appetite receive additional attention, and we’ll communicate with you when concerns arise.

At Law’s Country Kennel, feeding is more than simply filling a bowl. It’s an important part of understanding your pet, monitoring their well-being, and helping them feel comfortable while you’re away.
